Free at Last!

Now you see it...

Now you don't...

Three weeks ago, Abi was playing on the monkey bars in our backyard and made one unsuccessful landing which resulted in a fractured wrist. When it happened, we had no clue and sent her to bed that night without thinking much of her hurting arm. (She actually curled up on Daddy's lap outside and fell asleep there.)
The next morning, she wasn't able to use her left hand for anything, so we made a trip to the pediatrician...then to another office for an x-ray...then finally to the ortheopedic office for another doctor and a cast...a radiantly pink cast.
We are happy to say that she can now go in the pool and take a bath without having to hold up her left arm in the air. The cast came off on Thursday and boy are we glad!

Abi quotes

It made me smile at lunch today when my daughter requested veggies for her dip because she does not like chips. She was very pleased with the green peppers I offered and very thankful I didn't make her eat the chips. What a girl!!

Last weekend we stayed at a friend's house at Lake Wallenpaupack. One afternoon while we were in the house, Abi scurried over to me and breathlessly handing me the flyswatter she said, "Mommy, if you see the fly, just spatula it!"

Virginia

We got to spend a week at the massanutten resort in Virginia. We got to swim, hike, play frisbee golf, feed the fish, enjoy time with friends and most of all...relax.

There was a ski lift running to take you to the top of the mountain. The girls rode the chair lift, and the guys hiked all the way up since JD was too small to ride the chair lift. We were greeted by two friendly (and hungry) wild mountain goats at the top.

Horseback riding for Abi. The horse's name was Willow and it was the very same horse that Sandy had for her trail ride last year.

The first night week got there, JD decided that he would no longer be confined to a crib, or in this case, the pack-n-play. And so ended my ability to be able to put him to bed and know that he wouldn't be going anywhere til I got him out in the morning. It wasn't something I was prepared to deal with on vacation, but we survived. What else should I have expected from an almost 2-yr-old monkey?

Crayola

We spent a day at the Crayola Factory this week.

Besides having a pretty well unlimited supply of all the arts and crafts materials you could ever use (cutting, coloring, gluing) there were also opportunities for painting hand prints on the wall, coloring the glass in front of the dinosaurs, indoor sidewalk chalk, model magic, painting with melted wax and more!

So if you've no place to go...

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!

What a great winter we've had this year! We've finally had some real storms with snow that lasts longer then one sunny afternoon.
And while some of us love it and can't wait to go out and play in it...

(and eat it...)

There are still others who can't wait to get back in the house so they breathe once again without being bundled up so tight.
